José Salgueiro is unanimously named as one of the best drummers of Portuguese jazz. He comes to SeixalJazz to present "Transporte Colectivo", name of his quintet and also his first recording as leader.
The album received the best praising from the music critics: an easy going work, where Salgueiro surprises with his ability for composition. An elegant and open jazz with visible influences of the many styles of music that the drummer has already explored.
Presented in SeixalJazz with the excellent formation present in the disc, a range of instrumentalists of such quality that it is impossible to make individual highlights. They are all known at SeixalJazz, a festival where they have performed several times.
José Salgueiro studied at the Amateur Music Academy at the National Conservatory and at the Hot Clube de Portugal. From 1983 to 1991, he joined Trovante and played and recorded with the biggest names in Portuguese popular music: Sérgio Godinho, José Mário Branco, José Afonso, Rui Veloso, Resistência, Camané, among others. He is one of the founders of the percussion project Tim Tim por Tim Tum. He is also a member of the Lokomotiv, by Carlos Barretto.
