João Hasselberg and Pedro Branco surprise in this joint project, exploring a universe formed by compositions of both.
John Hasselberg is a bass player and composer born in 1986, currently living in Copenhagen. He began to compose in 2013 and since then has edited 4 albums.
His music revolves around compositional / improvisational and acoustic / electronic dichotomies. He is a confessed connoisseur of Charlie Haden and Arvo Part. His training is unmistakably jazz, but what he shows us in his works incorporates pop, folk and songs of the popular songbook.
He participated in the recording that the quartet of João Firmino made at SeixalJazz Club 2010, later edited by JACC records. In 2013, he edited his first work as a leader " Whatever it is you're seeking won't come in the form you're expecting"
In 2016, in the Municipal Auditorium of the Forum Cultural do Seixal, recorded the work "Dancing our way to death", released in that year as an author edition.
From these recordings, which he performed with guitarist Pedro Branco, the work "From Order to Chaos" was later edited by Clean Feed, as an album with more improvised and open themes.
Pedro Branco is a Lisbon guitarist and composer, currently living in Amsterdam. He studied with André Fernandes, Afonso Pais, Mário Delgado, Demian Cabaud, Gonçalo Marques and Desidério Lázaro and integrated masterclasses of Kurt Rosenwinkel, Dave Holland or Peter Bernstein.
He joined the Jacob Sacks Ensemble, was part of the post-rock project Oh! Calcutta! and debuted his project as leader: Pedro Branco Quartet. The partnership with João Hasselberg is his latest project.
